A Real-Life Update on Kat & the boys (and the dogs)

I can't believe I'm finally posting! I'm not even sure if anyone ever reads this anymore because I'm such a terrible blogger! The truth is that I blog so much for thecouponwiki.com that I never feel like I have anything left for this pitiful little blog that I used to spend so much time on.

Earlier today, I found myself staring into the abyss of my "scrap room" and realized that I haven't done anything scrap related (including shopping! YIKES!) in so long because couponing has taken over my life. It's a good thing because I'm saving so much money and learning so much that I can then teach others but a little part of me wishes there were more hours in the day and more energy in my body to do more. More on that later though.

The boys are the same basically. Justin has decided to "stretch" his piercing in his ear and it's horrible and huge now. I hate it! Everytime I look at the huge hole in my baby's earlobes it hurts inside (not to mention makes me feel gaggy). But he turns 18 in a couple of weeks and no matter how hard I've tried, he has found a way to do what he wants over the last couple of years. I've learned that parenting a boy like Justin takes a WHOLE LOT of prayer and faith in God as well as banking on the hope that what few good things I've taught him, will be there for him to pull out of his "virtual backpack" when he needs it in his life. I hope that makes sense.

Here's the latest picture I was able to steal of Justin.

Tyler is well, entering those difficult years that I'm hoping are starting to end with Justin. I keep thinking to myself, "Here I Go Again"....only I didn't get a break in between and Tyler has autism on top of everything else. In some ways that helps me because he tells on himself without knowing it and is not able to lie and be as devious as Justin was at his age (lol). He is having a lot of trouble making and keeping (mostly keeping) friends. It's just not easy for poor Ty. Not that it is for any boy his age but you know what I mean. He has grown several inches over the last six months or so. He's now as tall as me (5'6") and he turned 13 in April. He is wearing a size 10 1/2 mens shoe and his brother and I still wear the same size (which is smaller) lol. It's funny though because I can shop for shoes for Justin by trying them on me. I can't do that with Ty!

Abby and Ginger are doing well. Abby is still growing so I guess the humane society was wrong when they told me how old she was. She IS still a baby and still growing. She is the sweetest, most lovable clown ever! Ginger has even grown to love her and put up with all her energy. lol Ginger is my girl..just wants to lay around and love and be loved but doesn't want to put a lot of effort into it LOL Heck, she's earned that right after almost ten years with this family! Here are a couple of pics of Abby and Ginger. Not sure how new they are, I take them all the time lol

Sorry there are no recent pictures of me but I am always the one taking pictures and besides, I never like getting my picture taken since I got sick. Someday I'll have to let someone but for now, it's just not happening lol I do have one that my son took when I got my hair cut a few months ago but remember, I was sick and had no make up on, etc. (I can't believe I'm sharing a picture of me like this LOL)

As for me, I've been chugging along. The chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia really rules my daily life but I'm learning to work with and live with it. I just have to deal with the depression that comes along with it all now. I can say that there are so many things that you have to learn when living with these two conditions (or whatever you want to call them), and the only way (The ONLY way) to learn them is to live and learn. The reason is that it is different for each person so the symptoms I have and the things that help or (don't help) me, may not be the same as yours, or someone else's. Does that make sense? I can say that I have found a cocktail of meds that seem to be helping but it's certainly not a cure-all or even close. It just makes life "livable" 80% of the time. The other 20%? I grin, bear it and pray. One person who has helped me tremendously is my Granddad, otherwise known as "Granddad McDreamy". I waited all my life for him and he was sure worth the wait! That man has a heart of gold and just "gets" me. I love him so much, I never thought it possible. He doesn't like the internet so he won't read this but if by chance he ever does, I love you Granddad. Thank you for all of our special talks and for the bond we share. You make my life so special.

Okay so now that I'm crying, I need to stop and get back to work! My coupon site is having technical issues today and I need to get back to it and get them fixed. I wish I had a simple wordpress blog like so many other coupon sites. Wordpress is SO EASY! But I chose a more difficult route....(why do I always do that? LOL). Anyway, I hope whoever still reads this is doing well and that you will contact me and let me know how you are doing as well. I miss all my blogging friends and I'm sorry I'm not better at staying in touch. Somedays, most days, I just do what I "can" to get by ya know?

Score on Men's Nivea Body Wash & Lifesavers at Walgreens

I scored big time at Walgreens yesterday. I don't normally shop there because everything costs more than Walmart or Target but when they have a deal, they really have a deal!

I got 10 bags of Lifesavers for $0.98! They were having a BOGO sale at Walgreens so I used 5 BOGO printable coupons (that are no longer available) from coupons.com. The $0.98 represents the STUPID NEW CANDY TAX that Washington State has put into place as of June 1, 2010. (Along with our dandy soda tax)...Don't get me started on sugar tax...I like sugar! lol

So while I'm looking around the store, I noticed that Nivea Body Wash for men is BOGO also. I had 6 coupons for $3.00/1 so I left with 2 bags FULL of body wash for $9.88. (I had to buy a couple extra because the coupons made it MORE than FREE! I think the boys are set for body wash for the next year now!

Did I mention we have another boy living here? I now have three teenage boys in my home! Between them, their friends and the dogs, I've been really busy, thus the lack of blog postings. I'm also STILL working on my coupon website when I can. It will be a miracle if I ever finish it and get it open!

Well, hang on to those coupons and watch for the good deals, they are out there if you look (and wait).

Tyler, Autism and a funny joke...

So the other day, I asked Tyler to take the clothes out of the washer and put them into the dryer because I was out of something. A few hours later I went to the dryer to get my dry clothes because I was running late for an appointment and what do I find? A dryer full of wet clothes!

When will I learn? You'd think that after 13 years living with my son I'd know better by now! I couldn't be mad at him because he did exactly as he was told. He took the clothes out of the washer and put them into the dryer. I forgot to ask him to START THE DRYER! LOL

Which brings me to this cute story that I swear could be Tyler! (He LOVES Fried Chicken and especially KFC!)

My Favorite Animal

Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken." She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, everyone else in the class laughed.

My parents told me to always be truthful and honest, and I am. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened, and he laughed too. Then he told me not to do it again.

The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like she'd asked the other children. So I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal's office again. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.
I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most.

I told her, "Colonel Sanders".

I'm not sure if I've ever seen my boys this happy before LOL I have strep throat that is affecting my vocal cords and I have no voice so as you can imagine in a house with 17 and 13 year olds boys, they have the run of the house. So far, Ty is doing a great job of getting me stuff when I need it, we will see how long that lasts (lol)...but bless his heart for now.

Justin is doing what any 17 old would do and is having a bunch of friends over and doing whatever he wants.

As for me, I keep trying to do my couponing, (stuff for my trains) and working on my website but I just don't feel good enough to do it. I overdrew my bank account by almost $300.00 and just found out this am. I haven't done that in YEARS...I blame it on being sick because it's such a stupid mistake.

Anyway, that's what's going on here, (other than wet St. Bernard mess everywhere), how's life in your corner of the world?

I want to say a great big hello to all my blogger and online friends! I know I haven't written much this year and I've not posted coupons for quite some time but today, I'm feeling "well" and I thought I'd share a few with you. Thank you all for your prayers, my Granddad McDreamy is recovering from his surgery and the pneumonia he got from the surgery and his spirits seem good. God I love that man! He is my hero! He is such a beautiful spirit and I just want to somehow preserve him and keep him the way he is now, forever so that I will never have to go a day without hearing him sing me a song or tell me he loves me. Anyway, thanks again for the prayers, if you live in the Myrtle Beach, SC area and want to visit my G'dad (since I can't) (and I know you and that you are safe!), email me okay? I'm sure he'd love the company. I'd give anything to have the money to fly out there to spend time with him. He wants to take me fishing in spite of my fish hook "phobia". He said he'd bait the hook and take the fish off for me. :) I don't eat fish and I hate fish hooks (long story) but I used to love fishing as a kid. When we were not out on our boat, I'd walk down to the canals with my cane poke and some white bread and try to catch whatever I could lol (This was pre-fish hook phobia). :-)

Tyler's 13th Birthday
Tyler's birthday went well, I still can't believe he is 13! You have to remember that he is more like 8-10 most of the time (and sometimes 3-5) so the only way I'm reminded of his real age is by his size. The kid is 5"4' and wears a size 10 1/2 mens shoe already! If he is anything like his donor he will be very tall with extra long limbs. He is the spitting image of him from head to toe. His heart, however, he got from me :) I will share pictures whenever my mom and step dad email them to me. (I still haven't learned to use my camera!)

Introducing Abby Driggers!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce our newest family member to you. I went to the local animal shelter for a "small, lap dog" and almost came home with a mini dachshund but I was worried it wouldn't be able to get up and down the dog door, steps and bed, as well as worries about how fragile it would be with Tyler in the house but then I saw Abby and I *knew* she was meant to be part of our family. Just as I did when I saw Ginger in the same shelter over 9 years ago.

Abby was a stray and appears to have some hip problems but other than that (and the need for a bath and brush!), she appears to be healthy. I'm taking her to the vet on Monday so I'll find out more but she is such a joy. The best way to describe her is like a big, lovable, obnoxious puppy in a 110 lb body! lol Ginger is not thrilled with her yet but you know good ole' Ginger, she is patient and will love her sooner rather than later :-)

These pictures were taken by the shelter, you can see how much happier she is now in the pictures I've taken of her since she came home with us!

Here are a few more pictures I snapped of her with my phone. When she gets her bath (have to wait because of her surgery) I'll take better pictures and share them with you.

As you can see, my house is full of love (and hair and slobber lol) but I'm so grateful to have found this special new girl to add to our little family. (Plus, it feels so good when she lays on my legs!!! It's better than any pain pill or heated blanket! - New treatment for fibromyalgia - "St. Bernard!" lol)

In other news, my sweet Granddad made it through his open heart surgery and over a week in rehab and is now home. I didn't post much about it because I was too upset and scared, this man is the most important man in my life, he is my hero and I couldn't bear the thought of losing him. I'll post more about Grandad McDreamy later, anymore and I'll be crying. Thank you God for giving us more time with this incredible man. I love you G'dad. :)

My Life Lately...

I didn't realize how long I've been away from the computer until I looked at my last blog post! This year has been just full of trials, not quite what I'd hoped for after last year and the one before that but what are ya gonna do, right?

I have been spending everyday, all day in bed for as long as I can remember. So a few weeks ago I went to the doctor (just getting there was a miracle!) and he took me off of the Cymbalta that I was taking for the fibromyalgia. It was causing my panic attacks to happen more often and last longer. He switched a few other meds and added Lithium! I was freaking out because I always thought lithium was for "crazy people", not me lol. He said that for people who have major depression and have not received any relief from other types of meds, sometimes lithium can help. I waited about a week before I took it but then I finally realized that I've taken every medication known to man over the last 24 years and nothing else has helped long term so why not? I was worried about gaining weight but then I realized, I've gained so much from all the other meds over the last ten years WHAT DOES IT MATTER ANYMORE?

Three weeks one dosage increase later and I've gained ten pounds (he says it's probably water but my jeans don't agree), and I'm having less panic attacks. I'm still in bed everyday, all day but I'm not "quite" as depressed. It's hard to be happy when you live your life in constant pain and fatigue. My doctor asked me to describe what it felt like to be me and the best I could do was to tell him that for me, moving anything (my arm, leg, even walking), it feels as if I'm doing it underwater on a good day and in quicksand on a bad day. And that's JUST the fatigue. We hadn't even discussed the pain of fibromyalgia yet.

So he gave me Vyvanse which is an ADD pill (in reality it's an upper), and I took the first one today. I took this medication in the past for ADD but had to stop because I was having panic attacks). I think my doctor is hoping that combined with all of the other meds I take it will help me have more energy without the panic. So far so good because today I was actually able to get up, shower and start working on organizing my coupons again and WRITE THIS BLOG POST! Yeah!

My goal for tomorrow is to actually go shopping. We are out of everything and since I've not been collecting my coupons for almost a month now, it's not gonna be fun! I think I'll hit up Costco.

So now I'm taking the following meds: (If you'd like to compare what you are taking, email me or leave me a comment, I'd love to know what others take for fibro and cfs, etc.).

If anyone out there has fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue and you feel depressed, how do you know what is causing what? I have a long history of panic attacks and depression so it's harder for me to tell but like I told my doctor, I could be the happiest person on earth and I'd still get depressed living with fibro and cfs ya know? It's a vicious circle that never seems to stop. Oh and did I mention the ten pounds I've gained with the lithium? Yeah, I know, what is ten pounds? Well, when you add it to 100 other pounds that you've gained with each different medication, it's a big deal. :( But I guess I have to prioritize things at this point in my life. Is it more important to be/feel pretty or is it more important to be alive and out of bed? The answer changes from day to day for me, I'm not used to feeling so unattractive and even though I've been gaining/losing/gaining this weight with every new medication over the last 10 years or so, I'm still not used to being this fat! It really sucks!

If I keep feeling this well I'm going to start working on my coupon site again. I really do need help though so if anyone out there wants to help, you don't have to have any experience, just time to search the web and add/share info. We also need bloggers and writers! Contact me for more info!

Is that the Sun I See? Living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome...

On a good day I wake up and take my meds by 10-12 and then I take a nap for a few more hours. By the time the meds kick in it's 2-3pm and I know whether I'll be able to get up and move around or not. I take my night time meds when I remember which is usually sometime between 9pm and 1am (lol). I go to sleep around 5-6 am and that's it for my day until it starts all over again when it's time for my morning meds.

On a bad day I wake up and take my meds, take my nap and wake up feeling too tired, stiff, achy or just in plain old pain to move and I spend the day in bed, only getting up to go to the bathroom or do small things necessary as a mom. These days usually happen in multiples and before I know it sometimes, a week or two has passed without me leaving the house or getting much done. That's life with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia (among other things, i.e., depression, etc.)

Now that you know what my life is like I can explain the title of this blog post..."Is that the Sun I See?"

I woke up yesterday, took my meds and my "after meds nap" and woke up feeling better than normal, better than I have in a long time actually. Coincidentally, it was sunny and dry out which is unheard of around here for long periods of time. I did a few things around the house and was sure not to over do it so I don't regret it the next day and then I worked all night on The Coupon Wiki.com website. All in all, it was a good day. Plus, it was quiet last night because Tyler spent the night with Grandma and Poppy! (God love them!) Well, I can't really say quiet because there were at least a dozen teenage boys in and out of the house all night with my older son but hey, it's quiet compared to when Ty is home! lol

Before I fell asleep this morning (I'm on a backwards schedule), I said a quick prayer that I could have another good day when I woke up, all the while doubting I could get two good days in a row. However, when I woke up this morning, I didn't feel quite as well as yesterday but still, better than normal. I was about to go back to sleep around 2pm (Ty is at a field trip in Seattle today with Grandma and Poppy) and then the phone rang. It was Ty :) My little ray of sunshine/thunderstorms LOL He started to tell me about his trip to Seattle and the Planetarium and how he got scared because of the high ceilings (he's always had a fear of high ceilings because he feels like he's going to float to the top) and then my mom got on the phone and told me to open a window because the sun was out and it was warm enough to get some fresh air. (Warm is 54 degrees for my Floridian friends lol).

I forced myself to open a couple of windows and curtains (I'm sleeping on the couch in the living room) and I saw this bright light...so bright and inviting...could it be? Yes, it's the sun! (Sometimes I wish it was the other bright light lol).

I started to feel better almost instantly, the fresh cool air and the sunlight, just for a few minutes was enough to get me to sit up and blog about it! In fact, I'm going to work on getting a shopping list and coupons together so I can go shopping in a few hours when Ty gets home! That may not seem like such a big deal to most people but anyone who lives with a chronic illness such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia or even depression will appreciate why it's important enough for me to blog about. :)

This makes me wonder how much the weather here affects my health. I know that weather does play a part in moods, etc., but now I wonder now if it plays THAT big of a role in your overall health. I guess only time will tell. We are supposed to have a few more days of sun (God willing lol), so I'll let you know how it goes. I have to constantly remind myself not to over-do it on my good days because I won't have another for a long time if I do. But when you are immobile so often and get a chance to do things, you tend to want to make up for lost time and/or get as much done as you can because you never know when you'll have another chance to do so.

Today is my 1 year Blogoversary!

Sad News Today

I have sad news today, my great Uncle Dick passed away today from complications following a stroke and pneumonia. Uncle Dick is my Granddad McDreamy's older brother and the two of them are like two peas in a pod. They both lost their wives within a year's span and supported one another through thick and thin. I know my Granddad's heart is broken right now and I pray that God will give him an extra dose of peace and grace. (I love you Granddad!)

I hadn't had the opportunity to spend much time with Uncle Dick, or get to know him until recently and I really wish I had more time with him. He was a REMARKABLE man, intelligent, funny, strong, courageous, supportive and loving. I feel blessed to have known him and will forever remember him with a smile. May your journey home be blessed Uncle Dick. I'll miss you.

Uh-Oh - Ever cleaned your laptop screen with body mist by accident?

Jeez Louise! I was writing articles for my new coupon class series for The Coupon Wiki.com and noticed a drip mark on my screen so I reached over and grabbed the little spray bottle that I THOUGHT was screen cleaner only to find out after spraying it everywhere that it was in fact Degree Sexy Intrigue Body Mist! The laptop screen looks clean and SMELLS very sexy (lol) but does anyone know if my little boo-boo can cause permanent damage to my laptop screen?

The bottles are almost identical in size and shape, the only difference is the label of course (which I didn't even look at because I was multi-tasking as usual) and the contents! Well hopefully the smell will fade (It's a whole lot of sexy intrigue at once!) and my screen will be okay. Bad news is I can't find the screen cleaner now to try to clean off the body mist!

Moral of my story....

Always check the label before spraying chemicals! (lol)

You would have thought I'd know better by now because I saw an episode of one of those ER Trauma Reality shows awhile back where a girl put super glue in her eyes thinking it was eye drops and ever since I obsessively, compulsively check my eye drop bottle 10 times before I EVER put drops in my eyes LOL (Yes, they fixed her eyes lol)

Ever looked up your ex's online?

Have you ever been bored enough to look up old boyfriends/fiances/husbands online? (lol) Well I did that recently and did not at all expect to find what I found! I completely and totally see why I didn't stay with any of them now! I guess at the ripe ole age of 39 +1 (lol), I've learned a few things and this recent trip down memory lane confirmed many things after a brief period of reflection.

I could probably write a small book about the relationships, circumstances and how everybody turned out and there'd be plenty of laughs I'm sure...I'll give you just one, if this doesn't make you laugh, nothing will!

When I was 16, I was introduced to a young college student on spring break at a friend/co-worker's party (I lived in West Palm Beach, Florida at the time). I fell head over heels for this mysterious, handsome stranger from Ohio, who was different from any southern boy I'd ever met. We spent a few days together and stayed up all night the night before he had to go home (making out LOL) and then when morning came, it was time for him to go. I remember we exchanged phone numbers on a paper plate because that's all that was around at the time! We then began to write and call and somehow we kept it going on and off for several years because at one point, after a few visits back and forth, we decided to move in together and ended up engaged and pregnant when I was 19 years old. (yes, in that order!) Although I miscarried that pregnancy, I have this ex to thank for my oldest son's name, because the name we chose together stuck with me and when I got pregnant a few years later, I kept the name and thus, my beautiful baby boy, Justin Michael Driggers was named! (Who turns 18 this year!!!)

Anyway, this ex was an "actor" and had a great sense of humor as well as a few eccentricities, which I took in stride until I came home from work late one night and found him sleeping on the couch in my old lady, frilly nightgown. I stood there shocked with my mouth hung open and asked him what the _____ he was dong and his reply was "I missed you, I just wanted to feel closer to you". Being young and naive, but not THAT naive, I needed a second opinion so I went into the bedroom to change and called my mom, whispering to her what I had just seen. Her advice was "get out of there now and come home!". So I took her advice!

My mom's wisdom is never-ending and a few short weeks later I stopped by to pick up some of my things and he had already had a co-worker sleeping with him in our apartment....before I had even had a chance to move everything out! I wondered at that time, how he could have gotten over me that fast when we had our wedding planned, the dress in the closet, and a miscarriage less than a month earlier but now I know it was fate and that we were both better off.

It's been a little over 20 years since then and I looked his name up online out of curiosity one day and was surprised to see how his life had turned out. Well, partially surprised. I guess my biggest surprise was that he actually married a woman (I had suspected he was gay for many other reasons), but then I watched a few of his videos online (still an actor) and remembered the things that I fell in love with when I was with him. Those things were still there, especially his sense of humor and talent. He seemed to be happily married and had no children, which also surprised me because he was so thrilled when we found out we were expecting so many years ago. Anyway, it was nice to remember the good things about him that made melt as a young woman while knowing that we were SOOO not meant for one another! I am happy that he seems happy with his life and very much enjoyed watching his videos online. Every once in awhile I go look to see if he has anything new up there (he and his wife are actually very funny in the plays I've seen online) and recently I saw his latest little film that made me LAUGH OUT LOUD. It was so funny!

I was going to share it here but I wonder if I've told you too much now...what do you think? Should I share the link with you so you can see it? What the heck, here's the video, remember we were very young and we've both changed a LOT I'm sure since then LOL. (I gotta find some old pictures to show you when I tell these types of stories!!)

Good Lord! What a week!

This year is not turning out to be great for me and my little blog! I've spent the entire last week in a self induced semi-coma (via xanax and phenerghan) in an attempt to get through a stomach virus that my sweet son got and shared with me. I don't mention it much because I don't want to give it any "energy", but I have emetophobia which is an irrational and obsessive fear of nausea and/or vomiting. I've had it my entire life (since I can remember anyway) and because nobody has been sick lately, I started to get a little careless and I started sharing drinks with my 12 year old. (That is a big No No! for emetophobes!).

Of course, he started feeling sick and got diarrhea early last week and after the poor kid spent most of the night back and forth from the bathroom to the couch I was doing okay, not panicking because I can deal with that part of it, just not nausea and he said he wasn't nauseous. Poor baby, he either was not telling me because he didn't want to scare me or he didn't realize the difference between his own panic and nausea because shortly after he laid down to sleep he woke up getting sick. (Why is it that kids always seem to wake up vomiting when they are sick? ) So I did what I always do when this happens, I took a xanax, a phenerghan, started praying and called grandma!!!!

Luckily, I only got part of the bug and didn't throw up (Thank you GOD!), but the entire week is a blur because I was literally "out" for all of it until parts of yesterday and today.

I'm sure for those who do not know about emetophobia this will sound like the strangest blog post ever but anyone who has emet or knows someone with it, I know that you understand exactly what this last week has been like!

Now that I'm back, I'm hoping to start working on my coupon site again, but I have such a long to do list, I never know where to start! There is so much to do in real life and then all the things I want to do online and for my coupontrain groups, etc. I still haven't gotten to use my new cricut yet! (It's not new anymore but it's still untouched!)

It is good to stay busy because my sweet little nieces who used to come visit each weekend have moved to Idaho with their mom and dad. (my brother). I'm really happy that they are back together and working things out but I sure do miss my little girls. I don't usually have pictures to share but I have a couple so I thought I'd share them with you.

He has since shaved off the little mohawk he was rockin (lol) Isn't he a cutie patootie? Okay well, I'm dizzy, this is the longest I've sat up in a week so I think I need to lay back down and gather some more strength. Don't ya hate rebuilding your strength after you've been sick for a long time? It sucks! My brain says I'm better, let's go! But my body just doesn't agree!

I HATE THIS!

I started a post yesterday to catch up and let everyone know I got my laptop back and tell you all about our holiday and what was new but never finished it. Today, I'm just so frustrated and full of emotions that I have to get it out or I'm going to just either explode or fall apart. This is a fact:

I HATE WHAT CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME, FIBROMYALGIA, DEPRESSION, PANIC DISORDER AND EMETOPHOBIA ARE DOING TO MY LIFE! (and my children's).

I just want to scream at the top of my freaking lungs and the ironic thing is that I don't have the energy :-(
I try to keep these bad times to myself and just focus on the positive, however, at this moment it's hard to even write this without every other word being a curse word!

I feel like I'm on this rope that is so slippery in a deep, endless dark well and no matter how much I try, how hard I work at it, how much I pray, how many medications I take, I can't get stop slipping towards the end into the black hole.

I feel like a failure as a mom, a daughter, a woman, a sister and an auntie. My life has never been real easy but whose is right? I've always managed to work hard and reach most of my goals, even surpassing them at times. (even if only temporarily). But now I do not have any power over ANYTHING. There is nothing I can do! That is perhaps one of the hardest things I've ever had to admit. I like to be in control, always have. That's why I chose to be a single mom for 39 of my 39+1 years (little inside joke there). With an invisible and misunderstood (mostly to ME) health condition such as the ones I'm living with, there are days when I wonder if I'm just lazy or crazy! I mean how can ANYONE go from the person I once was to what I am now which is an almost empty (much bigger) shell of what I have always been.

It's so hard to explain what it is like to live like this. It feels like my life force is empty, as if there is no will to live which is not true because I have too many loved ones in my life to just give up but I really feel like my energy has been drained and I'm just weak and flimsy, it's impossible to put into words. I can handle the pain most of the time, that's not the biggest problem (for me), I've learned I'm actually pretty good with pain, it's the fatigue I can't deal with.

Waking up with everything stiff and hurting EVERYWHERE really sucks but if I could just have a little, tiny bit if "get up and go", just enough to help me get out of bed and take a shower and not go back to bed, I'd be happier. I have been in bed for 8 days straight now, I felt so bad today I couldn't even make it to my doctor's appointment! Moving feels like I'm trying to walk in sand. Taking a shower wipes me out so bad that I feel as if I may faint before I can get dried off and get back into bed. What kind of life is this?

Watching what it has done to my family life is the worst. I hate messy, dirty houses. I have a thing about germs, I absolutely DETEST it. My house is always messy, why? Because my kids are lazy and spoiled and because I'm too damn tired to move. I've been trying to get used to it or just "live with it" and learn not to feel so guilty but I MISS being the mother I once was! I miss being ME! Where did I go? I'm being suffocated by this stupid INVISIBLE illness (that I am not even sure is real sometimes) and it's been going on so long now that I'm losing hope. I mean, HOW LONG can this last????

My kids won't remember all the years that I worked my butt off being the best mom I could be. They won't remember all the special little things I did to show them how much I loved them or the special times we had, moments that are precious to a single parent family...they will remember these times, me being in bed 24 hours a day, asking them to get me this or that, having to cook for themselves (microwave really), always saying, "Maybe tomorrow will be better and we can do _____" but tomorrow is never better and we never get to do it.

There are so many ways that I've failed my children because of these conditions (I don't know what else to call them), all of my dreams were either crushed or just kind of died along the way to where we are now, even the dreams I had for my kids. If they fail at something, it's really my failure as a mother not theirs. And that is SO not fair for them and SO not what I wanted for my children.

This is NOT the life I signed up for and I'm sorry if I sound like a whiny, ungrateful brat but dangit, I'm really ANGRY about this!

Doesn't really matter though does it? I mean, there is nothing I can do about it...

"Maybe tomorrow will be a better day and I can post something more positive but then again, I doubt it."

I haven't been blogging because I don't have a computer right now, my laptop broke and I have to ship it to Toshiba to be fixed so I won't be doing a lot of blogging because my only internet access is from my iphone or when I go to my parent's house (like right now). It should take 10 days or so, hopefully less but we will see.

Reason for my Absence

I just love this picture, don't you? It's so cute it almost doesn't look real!

I've been absent from my blog and everything else "online" lately for many reasons but the main reason is that I have been dealing with a terrible depression since a few days before my birthday, (I'm not depressed about being 39+1; although I'm not thrilled about it!)

I've suffered from depression and anxiety since I was a teenager and sometimes it just comes out of nowhere and kicks me in the butt for a little while. But, I'm on my way back up now and am feeling better so I wanted to pop in to let you know what was going on and why I stopped posting regularly.

With the holidays coming up and me trying to work on TheCouponWiki.com, I don't foresee a lot of personal blogging in the next couple of weeks (but you never know!). I will also be without a computer (YIKES!!) for 7-10 days while I send in my piece of junk Toshiba laptop to be fixed. I just bought it in July and it has a faulty part,(the port where you plug in the charger) and Toshiba has the worst technical support/customer service EVER! I will probably get a lot done around the house without my laptop! Either that or I will be borrowing someone else's to get my daily internet "fix". LOL

My mom has been coming over to work on my scrap room for me and it is coming along slowly but surely. I will take pictures as I have time and show you the progress and organization methods I'm using. I'm sure they will change a billion times as I start actually using my scrap room but I gotta start somewhere, right?

39 + 1 Years Ago Today...

Today I want to thank my mom, who happens to be the best mom in the entire universe. 39 + 1 years ago today, she was giving birth to a sick baby, a very sick baby who was not expected to live. After the loss of several babies due to miscarriages and multiple stillbirths, she faced yet another possible loss. When the baby was born she was told that she needed an immediate and complete blood transfusion for any possible chance at survival and if the baby were to survive, it would undoubtedly be mentally retarded or disabled. She went home without her baby, and for any mother, the thought of leaving your sick newborn in the hospital and going home to an empty crib is something nobody should ever have to go through.

My mom had a 1 1/2 year old little boy at home and Christmas was fast approaching, however, she was so worried that part of her was preparing herself for the loss of yet another baby and she just couldn't bring herself to get a tree, decorations or presents. She just wanted to know if her baby girl would make it and prayed for the day she could bring her home to meet her big brother.

The doctor's told her that the baby had to reach 5 pounds before even considering allowing her to leave the hospital but the baby was still gravely ill, tiny and looked like a little orange due to the skin discoloration. After what seemed like an eternity, on Christmas Eve, the doctor's informed my mom that her baby had reached 5 pounds (barely) and was healthy enough to go home!

My mom rushed to the hospital to bring her baby girl home to meet her big brother and just in time for Christmas. But first, she stopped at a department store (similar to Walmart) to get some Christmas presents for her babies, the neighbors brought over a Christmas tree and some decorations and when she awoke on Christmas day, she had her two babies together and her prayers were answered.

And if you hadn't guessed by now that the baby girl was me, consider the fact that my first stop after leaving the hospital was a DEPARTMENT STORE, well, it explains it all!

Each year when my birthday rolls around, I feel like we all should be celebrating and honoring my mom for her undying love, strength and grace. She endured so much just to bring my brother and I into the world. Unfortunately, her story didn't end there, she tried once again for one more healthy child and got pregnant shortly after my birth but that baby didn't make it. Her losses were just too much for any person to endure and only by the Grace of God did she find the ability to keep on going day after day, for my brother and I.

I want to thank her and to share with the world that this magnificent woman has the biggest heart, so full of love, and a soul so caring and unselfish. She is a rare and precious gift to all that cross her path and I, for one, am so grateful to her for always doing everything she could for me and my brother. No girl could ask for a better mom, that's one thing I know for sure. As you may have guessed, she brought along those same qualities when she became a grandmother of four! My mom has a son, Michael, 41, a daughter, Kat (me), 39+1 (lol), two grandsons, Justin, 17 and Tyler, 12 and two granddaughters, Dakota, 4 and Montana 1 1/2. And she is still taking care of us all in one way or another on a daily basis!

So today I want to say thank you and congratulations to my mom! Your road to and through motherhood sure has been a long and many times, difficult one. However, lucky for us, you were born with some kind of rare and magical "mom gene" (that skipped my generation!), because nobody has suffered as much as you to become a mom, or as a mom! (Sorry for my part of that LOL).

So I want to say to my mom, Holly,

"Happy Birthday to us today mom! You did all of the work (and still do) so we should be celebrating you first today and me second. All I did was appear after all! LOL"

Coupon Tips and Resources for 11/22/09

Today I'm going to list a little more than just internet printable coupons. I'm also going to list a few places where you can sign up to get coupons by mail and also manufacturer programs that offer special offers and coupons to registered members. I get a lot of coupons in the mail and they are usually the BEST coupons ever so even though it is a pain, I recommend signing up for them.

A couple of TIPS before you register anywhere. (This is what I do):

TIP #1: Create an email address JUST for coupon offers and registration for freebies so that your regular email address isn't bombarded with emails (and it will be!). I have one set up for coupons, one for freebies and one for surveys.

TIP #2: Don't retype your information into each form every time you fill one out. There are two tools that I'm aware of that will fill your information in automatically.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and there is a free add-on called InFormEnter that I use.

"InFormEnter adds a small, clickable icon next to every input field in a web form, from where you can select the item to be inserted - no typing required. You can configure it to display your frequently used information such as name, email, address..."

I Broke My Savings Record at Target Last Night!

I went shopping at Target tonight and broke my record of savings by over $100.00. Want to hear my total saved with coupons? Get Ready....

$287.37!

I know many couponers who saved more than that so it may not seem like a big deal to some but I was in shock because I had no idea I could save that much!

On top of that, I went to Toys R Us tonight and I got a bunch of toys for free and almost free.

My local store is having a two day sale on Mr. Potato Head toys so I was able to pick up the following

Mr. Potato Head (and Mrs) - $3.99 and with my $2.00 coupons, I ended up paying $1.99 for the Mr & Mrs Potato Heads.

The Potato Head Spuds were on sale for $4.99 and I had accumulated 7 of the $5.00 printable coupons from coupons.com so I got those better than free. :)

Next, I bought two card games, "Scrabble Slam and Pictureka" and used my B1G1 coupon so I got both for $5.99 total. (They are only $5.24 at Target but I found out too late).

With five nieces and one nephew all under 12, these toys will all go to good use!. My boys are too old for them and only want video games and clothes, etc. I really love buying toys at Christmas so it's really a lot of fun to shop for my nieces and nephews.

Anyway, at Toys R Us, I got 7 Potato Head Spuds, 3 Mr. & Mrs. Potato Heads, and two card games for $11.96 plus tax! That's pretty good I'd say!

I got really lucky at Target and had a nice cashier who knew what she was doing. She did advise me to try to break my shopping trips up into smaller orders though. I was somewhat surprised to hear her say that (but she meant it in a nice way). When I asked why, she told me the managers there had NO patience for couponers and if I had come earlier in the day when it was busy that the managers wouldn't have let me use ANY of my coupons because I was buying so much!

Now, tell me, how can a store manager refuse to take ANY of your coupons because you have a larger order? Don't they want to sell you their products? I don't understand that at all! I'm glad it didn't happen to me because I would be extremely "unhappy" if I spent all the time gathering my items and coupons and got to the checkout and was treated like that! Has anyone else ever heard of this or experienced a situation like that? Just wondering.

Warning: Whining Ahead!

Well I finally did it, I put an ad on craigslist to sell my Wishblade. It was a hard decision but I need the money more than the Wishblade at the moment.

My timing is just outstanding...besides the cost of Christmas, having a broken vacuum (in a house with a 110 pound long haired Alaskan Malamute), and badly needed car repairs I now find myself facing an emergency root canal and possible crown. (The crown is not the emergency, I'm told that's optional lol). The root canal alone is going to cost over $1,200.00 and I have no insurance (of course). I have thought of selling my Wishblade before but what truly convinced me to actually go through with it was the PAIN! Who knew a tooth could hurt so badly? Badly enough to make me part with my Wishblade! LOL

Truly, I am half kidding with the drama because I never took the time (found the time), to put my Wishblade to use but still, it was so expensive and it is so COOL that I felt the need to whine and complain about it today. You know what they say? When it rains, it pours! My oh my how that is so true right now!

I look back a few years and we were having such a wonderful time financially, my sons and I had our dream house (well, my dream house, they didn't like it because it was so big), two new cars, a thriving business, and all that we could ask for materially and healthwise. We were very happy and it was before TEENITIS hit home. Today, it's all gone and without getting into details, I can say that I've been down before but I'm not sure that I've ever been THIS down. And I do not mean just financially, it is a tough time for our family all around, it's as if the stars are all mis-aligned or something. I think my star must have fallen from the sky or something because something sure is out of whack!

But, what can you do but keep on waking up and breathing? I just keep saying to myself, "If I can just get through this day then I'll deal with tonight." And tonight I'll tell myself, "If I can just get through this night, I'll deal with tomorrow when/if I wake up." (Kidding about the if waking up part). Without a little humor I'd never make it through this thing we call life!

Well I feel as if I've whined enough and somehow, I don't feel any better. Hmmm..what's the use of whining and complaining if it doesn't make you feel better? I know...I'll try chocolate!

Update on Life at Kat's House

Hi all, sorry this week has had few posts but the Fatigue and pain has been really bad and I've spent a lot of time in bed. I ran out of one of my medications which made it worse and went to the doctor yesterday. He took me off one of my meds (I've gained 17 pounds on it in just over 8 weeks!) and put me on another new one. Hopefully this one will not do the same. I hate it when I work so hard to lose the weight I gain on a medication only to gain it back with another. It drives me nuts. But, such is life. It could be worse, right?

I am not doing my Freebie Friday this week, I'm just not up to it (sorry in advance) but as soon as I feel better I'll be back to posting more coupons and freebies for you. I'm trying to work on The Coupon Wiki.com but I don't feel like I'm getting much done at the moment. I'm still looking for people to help out if you are interested, we have a couple of great gals on the team but we need a community of people to build the site and keep it updated so holler at me if you think you might want to do something okay? If you know Joomla extra bonus! If not, that's fine, join the rest of us LOL

I really want to post some pictures of the Fira boxes I decorated a few weeks ago and the progress on my scrap room but I loaned my camera to my brother's (ex) friend and (ex) business partner along with my video camera, laser printer and a bunch of other stuff and they had a falling out and now the guy won't return my things. I just paid off my new camera and it's heartbreaking because I cannot replace any of it. Pretty hard to scrapbook without a camera and document your children's lives without a video camera. Some people have no conscience I guess. I'm still hopeful he will return it, if not, I'm going to take my receipts and see what legal action I can take to get it back. He has over $2,000 worth of equipment and other things and although I hate confrontations, I just cannot let someone steal from me when I don't have the means to replace them.

But enough about negative stuff! Here is what I'm grateful for today:

My children, my family, including the sweetest, cutest most adorable Granddad in the entire world! My wonderful dog Ginger. My friends and all the new couponers I'm meeting online and in my local area. (Who knew so many people used coupons?). My home, the internet (haha), and this may sound odd because I'm sick but the good health of my family and myself. (Mine may not be great but it sure could be worse!).

Remember, when someone hurts you or takes advantage of you, do what you can to right the wrong but not to the point that it negatively impacts your life in a way that is more than its worth. Things are things, and I have to believe that somehow, things will work out in a way that is fair. If not now, then later. I am a true believer in what goes around comes around. Even though I don't see it happening sometimes, I still believe that it will. God knows that things have come back to me ten fold for things I've done in the past!

Good Deal Alert!

You know that $3.00/1 Snuggle coupon you've been holding on to? Well I was at Kmart last night and picked up 15 free bottles of Snuggle for our local food bank. (They need more than food!). It's on sale for 2/$6.00 right now! I have about 30 coupons so I'm going to go back again today or tomorrow, pick up some more and then drop them off on Monday along with all the other great deals I've been saving up. I might as well load up the van before I head over there.

The cashier at Kmart was so nice, she volunteers at one of our local food banks so she totally understood why some lady was getting 15 free bottles of Snuggle (lol). Only problem is I used my debit card and forgot to get my $20.00 in cash back when I left! UGH! I called back about an hour later and am waiting for them to call me back today. I sure hope I'm not out the $20.00!

Anyway, check your local Kmart to see if Snuggle is on sale there too. I use the Bounce bar so no more liquid fabric softeners or dryer sheets for me but the food bank divides liquid detergents, shampoos, etc., so they can provide stuff like that to more people. And they ALWAYS need more!

Hint: To find your local food banks go to google and type "Food Bank, Your City, Your State" and it should come up with a list. Call and ask what they can use because most of them can use a lot more than food!

Have a Happy Sunday! I'm going back to bed for a bit. I had my nieces yesterday and last night and they wore me out!!! Auntie Kat is getting old! lol

Remembering my Grandmom

Yesterday was one year anniversary of the passing of my dear, sweet, funny Grandmom, (Helen) Jeanette Bliven Moore who blessed this world with her presence from April 17, 1921 to October 23, 2008.

When I think about my Grandmom these things come to mind:

Her cute chuckle and the light in her eyes
How soft and little she was (she was much shorter than I)
Chocolate, Oatmeal cookies & red hots (not all together) lol
Gardening & Flowers
Crafts like needlepoint and painting (She was so talented!)
Birds, especially the Red Cardinal
Wind chimes
Comic strips like Cathy and Garfield (she was a comic queen, mailed them, had them in her purse, in her office, everywhere you look she had a funny comic)
Her fiery personality (which I'm told is very similar to my own)
Her love for my Grandfather and how she lit up like a Christmas tree when she spoke of him
How much I love and miss her and wish I had had more time with her.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my Grandmom which probably is why the memories I do have are so precious to me. We lived states away for most of my life so my memories are from a handful of visits, tons of letters, cards and phone calls. I felt (feel) a strong connection to my Grandmom, probably because she reminds me so much of my mom physically and myself in personality. I've never met anyone like her before. She was unique, one of a kind and a lady in all ways. They just don't make 'em like my Grandmom anymore.

To my sweet, loving, loyal and wonderful Granddad (McDreamy), I know your heart has been broken for a long time since Grandmom got sick and that the last year has been a long journey for you. I wish I could be there in person with you today to hug you and talk to you about all your wonderful memories with Grandmom. I've never seen a love like the love the two of you have for each other and I know I never will again. You were both so blessed to have one another and I know you will be together again someday. I hope that love and admiration of your family and friends make life without Grandmom just a little bit easier to bear. I know she is around you and that she watches over you and wants you to be happy. You were the best husband I've ever seen and I admire you so much for the way you loved and cared for her. Your strength over the last couple of years is amazing. There truly are no words to describe how proud I am to call you my Granddad. You truly are Dreamy :)

My Scrap Room

I finally started working on my scrapbooking room again. I've been trying to get to it for almost a year now and it's been driving me nuts. I'm half way there! As soon as I get my camera back (I loaned it to someone) I am going to take some pictures and post them here.

I finally decorated my Ikea Fira Boxes, I used scrapbooking paper and Mod Podge. I ended up not having enough wall space for the Ikea bars and buckets I bought to organize my craft supplies. :( Waaah! Oh well, I'll use them somewhere else in the house I'm sure. I love everything Ikea. I'm thinking it's time for another trip there pretty soon.

Well, I'd better go and start getting Friday's Freebies together. I just wanted to update you that I'm finally making time for my scrap room! Just think, pretty soon, I'll be able to scrapbook!!! (lol)

Update on Post re: Horrible Target Shopping Trip & Coupon Problems

Today has been a busy day, I've been on the phone with Walmart, Target, Safeway and Walgreens, in an attempt to get specific details on their coupon policies. Here is an update on my post regarding the horrible shopping trip to Target!

I emailed Target to discuss the issues in my last shopping trip and to complain about the rude manager, Toni, at the Silverdale, WA location this afternoon. I spoke to someone in Customer Relations who was able to clear up two of my coupon questions and who apologized profusely for the manager's behavior and said they would forward my feedback to the store manager and whoever else handles that stuff (I forgot exactly who she said lol).

I was shocked to find out that at Target you can not use a BOGO coupon with a CO coupon on two products! They now have a new policy in which in order to use a BOGO coupon, you must purchase the first product at FULL PRICE which means no coupons or discounts can be used on that item. What does this mean? If you have any BOGO coupons, NEVER USE THEM AT TARGET!!!! Take them to Walgreens or Walmart, anywhere else that has a better coupon policy! I asked if this was a store policy because the coupon did not state that it had to be purchased at full price anywhere on the coupon and she said "it should". I further explained that other stores accept them both such as Walmart, Walgreens, etc., and she said it "should be a uniform policy with all stores". I again mentioned that Target was the only store that chose to interpret the coupon in this manner and she said that this is what was just told was their policy and that she was sorry. They lost a good portion of my business right there.

Next, concerning the manager refusing to take my coupon on trial size items, she stated that the manager was wrong and that as long as the coupon does not specify a certain size or say "excluding trial sizes", that they should accept it on trial size items. If the item is less than the coupon, they should adjust the amount of the coupon down to the price of the item (because they can't give you money back - no overages). I asked her how to make the store allow this and she said when I go shopping to tell the manager that I spoke to customer relations and to give them the reference number for our phone conversation and that they would explain it to the manager so that I shouldn't run into this problem again in the future.

So I'm going to go back to shopping at Target, but never again, will I use a BOGO coupon there if I have a matching CO coupon. Those are some of the best deals so that's a shame, not just for me but for the local food bank, Salvation Army and other non profit charities that I donate things to in our area, not to mention the people who receive these products from them.

I will post the details of my telephone conversation with the Walgreens store manager in another post. That was a positive conversation and Walgreens is quickly becoming my favorite store! If every other store had such great coupon policies, customer service and friendly employees the world would be such a better place!
